A City of Vancouver warning became reality over the weekend as dummies made up to be dead and deformed bodies were seen in cars on the 400-block of Seymour Street.

On Saturday, the City of Vancouver warned residents on Twitter that “there will be filming taking place in downtown (400-block Seymour St.) which involves highly visible graphic content including dead bodies, trash & debris, shouting of course language & gunfire. Please do not be alarmed if you’re in the area.”

The warning is related to a CBS All Access 10-episode miniseries being shot in Vancouver based on Stephen King’s fantasy/horror epic The Stand.

The production is being filmed under the working title Radio Nowhere and will star James Marsden, Whoopi Goldberg, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear and shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Manson and fellow musician Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon, also teamed up for a cover of The End by The Doors that will be used in the miniseries.

The Stand tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world — left in ruins by a man-made influenza virus that kills most people — in which survivors group up and fight among each other.

On Sunday, buses and cars were staged on Seymour Street with dummies made to look like dead and deformed people draped over them, inside the vehicles and in one case collapsed into the open trunk of a vehicle.

The Stand was published in 1978.
