OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a death at Graphic Packaging in the West Monroe area.
According to OPSO, they received the call about the incident at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019. They say the death was the result of an accident involving a forklift operator. OPSO says the incident is classified as an industrial accident at this point.
According to a representative of United Steelworkers Union District 13, the accident happened while a contractor was working on some demolition work. The representative says a forklift overturned, killing the contractor. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
The name of the operator has not been released.
OPSO has not released any other information regarding the accident.
